2020 board Candidates - District 1
I am Greg Knowles and I'm running for re-election to the Columbia Rural Electric Association board because I have enjoyed my experience these last 6 years. I was born and raised in Walla Walla. I grew up on the Knowles family farm changing pipe, driving tractor, picking produce, taking care of animals, milking cows, and whatever other chores came along. I worked for Walla Walla Grain Growers for thirteen years and joined my folks at the Bicycle Barn in 1992. My wife, Shareen, and I have been married for 35 years and live in the Valley Chapel area. We have two married adult children. One lives in Corvallis, OR and the other in London going to graduate school.
I currently serve as the President which has been another new venture in my life. This has been an honor and a blessing. If re-elected, I will serve as the chair one more year to complete my term. I attended several REA workshops on how to be an effective chair. I learned leadership skills and how to have meaningful conversations to help make important decisions.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve you. The world is changing fast, and with that, our sources for electricity. We on the board will continue to do our best to supply all your needs for good, clean, safe, and reliable power.
Tim has lived in Walla Walla for four years and, previously, six years.
