Annual Meeting Change
THE IN-PERSON REGULAR ANNUAL MEETING OF COLUMBIA REA FOR 2020 HAS BEEN CHANGED TO A VIRTUAL ONLINE MEETING ONLY
The in-person Annual Meeting of Columbia REA for 2020 has been changed due to the unprecedented Coronavirus outbreak. This meeting was to be held at the Marcus Whitman Hotel and Conference center on April 16th, 2020.
Following the directive of the Governor’s Office and the CDC to cancel all gatherings that exceed 50 attendees, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to cancel the in-person part of the Annual Meeting. The board elections will continue because the balloting is completed by mail and/or online. The Elections and Credentials committee, which is made up of cooperative members, will still review the election results and certify them. The scholarship program will still award the scholarships provided for by the cooperative.
The revised meeting will be held on April 16th, as previously scheduled, at 5:30 pm, with minimal staff, Board members who wish to attend, and the Cooperative’s attorney in attendance. Again, this will be online only for the membership. This meeting will take place at the Columbia REA office in Walla Walla. There will be a live video link provided through the Cooperative website where members can view the business to be transacted. In addition, members will be able to email questions in real time about the election results. Email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org. There will be a video of the full event that will be made available at a later date on our website. A full report of the election results and the scholarship recipients will be provided in a future edition of Ruralite magazine.
In addition, the Cooperative will still draw for voting prizes. Any member who votes in the election will be eligible for a prize. We will have our third-party elections service, Survey and Ballot Systems (SBS), draw 25 names at random for $25 bill credits.
We hope you agree that being diligent on our part to help prevent the spread of this virus is warranted at this time.
