Utility Safety Trainer

Columbia REA offers professional growth and challenges for an experienced and  qualified utility person to provide Safety Services and Training to employees in a group of electric utilities in Eastern Washington.       


Applicant is required to have seven to ten years in an electrical utility as a Journey Lineman, Journey High Voltage Electrical Worker, or an extensive  background as a presenter of Safety-related training in accordance with OSHA 1910.269 or Chapter 296-45 WAC Safety Standards for Electrical Workers; ability to develop presentations and use PowerPoint, Word, and Safety software programs with various media equipment; applicant must have strong management skills in the areas of communication, motivation, and evaluation; and, have the ability to research safety information, and comfortably present a variety of information in front of large groups, facilitate discussion, and answer questions. 


Responsibilities include basic knowledge of laws applicable to the utility industry; motor vehicle, FMC, NESC, OSHA, WAC, ANSI, ASTM, and NFPA regulations; IEEE standards; the ability to keep records current for individual safety training and accident investigations; and, develop benchmarks to evaluate effectiveness of safety programs at utilities and provide recommendations for improvements.  The successful applicant will be required to obtain Certification as an Instructor for First Aid/CPR/AED, OSHA General Industry requirements, and Accident Investigation. Prior safety training experience is preferred. Selected applicant must pass a job related pre-employment physical examination and substance abuse screening test.
